#2. Mallo Malli - Mausam

#1. Satrangi Saathiya - Phirr

Mausam - Music Review

The music of Mausam, Pankaj Kapur's directorial debut with son Shahid and Sonam as the lead cast, got released last week. Pritam is at the helm of music department and this time he surprises us with a bit of a different feel.
The trailers are out and the song featured is Rabba Main Toh, a nice romantic feel good track sung by Shahid Mallya.
This is followed by the banger of the track Sajh Dajh Ke sung by Mika and has that energy filled fun factor flowing through the whole songs. There are two remix versions within the album so in a couple of weeks the remix factories are going to go ablaze with this one.
Hans Raj Hans has come back to the fore with Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi, which if you have caught the trailer has the intro music of it. It has a very folk feel to it and this makes it a great song and on a lazy afternoon you would not mind it playing in the background while you rest up on your lazy couch. The we have Poore Se Zara Sa Kam Hai sung by Rashid Ali and the sargam is flowing with this one with its vocals what the song it all about with the raags raised and brought down beautifully.
Aag Lage Us Aag Ko gives us the mix of the folk and dance genre which is heavy on the beats of the dhol. There is something enchanting with the song which is hard to describe, you have to listen to it to experience it.
The last song of the album is Mallo Malli sung by Tochi Raina and this is my pick of the song from the list although the majority would be odds with me on this and fair enough but I like the melody and flow of the song and have no idea what in the world Mallo Malli means but it sounds snazzy and the feel of the music makes you want to dance. You again have two remix versions of the song with one done by Lehmber Hussainpuri and Hard Kaur which again brings two different style of singers and Lehmber, not just because I think he is an awesome singer, kills it on the vocals. Big up track this one!
Mausam brings the punjabi folk, bhangra and dance music and infuses each other with the best results. Definitely a good album to have.

Choomantar

Ok so I mentioned in the review of the MBKD that this was my pick of the songs and well I really am digging this song at the moment. Its been playing on my system on repeat for the last one week and I simply love it!

And Katrina K looks HOTTTTTTT!!!!
Your thoughts?

Ludacris Goes Bolly

So Akshay Kumar and gone on to snag another international medley with Ludacris singing along the Punjabi tune belted out by RDB for his home production Breakaway.
By the sounds of it, this song is going to pick up and go viral. What is your thought on it?

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan - Music Review

Ah yes, I had been waiting for this album for some time now, well ever since I heard the title track and it really is a peppy number. The video also is pretty snazzy with Imran copying his maamo (Aamir) and Salman's dance moves in the song. Its very hummable and you will like it on the first hear no doubts.
Then comes Dhunki sung by Neha Bhasin which kind of falls in the punk rock meets bollywood peppered with the hindi punjabi thrown in. Neha has sung it in a very rustic voice and again you can put it in the background and be head bopping without realising it. The comes Choomantar, which is my favourite track of the album, sung by Benny Dayal and Aditi Singh Sharma. This one is a very peppy track and you are going to be singing this song the second time you listen to it and you will put it on repeat at least once.
Rahet Fateh Ali Khan sings Isq Risk with the usual aplomb we are used to from him, a nice soothing track. Ali Zafar has one track in the movie which is by the sounds of it, going to be the item number, and Ali Zafar is a proven singer even though he's still making his mark in the movies and you can sense from the song with the way he changes the tempo all through this song. Then you have Do Dhaari Talwar, which kind of falls in the qawalli pop rock theme and like the rest of the tracks does not disappoint at all.
All in all, a very well composed album and Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy please take a bow as after doing a brilliant work on Zindagi Na Millegi Dobara, you guys have taken out another banger of an album with sounds poles apart! I would recommend it as a must have album.

And this Video just released today so if you do stumble upon this page....Enjoy!:D

Happy Independence Day

Someone once said, "True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right.", and as we celebrate another year of our Independence, this is something which we need to keep in mind. If we want change, lets create the change from the grass-root level and work our way up rather than scream and cry and then forget.
Let us also remember the individuals who sacrificed their lives so that we could live in a world where freedom is a right and not a privilege.
I have only posted 5 songs but I think it conveys the emotions across.

#1. "Jan Gan Man" by AR Rahman Featuring Various Artists

#2. Mile Sur Mera Tumhara featuring Various Artists

#3. Vande Mataram by Lata Mangeshkar

#4. Maa Tujhe Salaam by AR Rahman

#5.Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon by Lata Mangeshkar

The Electrifying n Enigmatic Shammi Kapoor

The world of cinema lost one of its finest contemporary today, a man full of zest, full of life both on screen and off it. The energy he brought on screen was infectious and the war cry "Yahoo" was famous well before the advent of internet to the shores of country. Shammi Kapoor was the man, the legend who set ablaze the silver screen with his energy, his amazing acting and his unique dancing skills.
He combined with legendary singers to gives us a collection of unforgettable songs.
Let us celebrate the Legend by revisiting some of the amazing songs from his career.
RIP Shammi Kapoor, but whenever we hear the word Yahoo, there is little doubt that it would remind us anything else apart from you.

Junoon - 20 Years onwards

20 years ago came a band that literally rocked the Rock music scene in whole of South Asia, a band that later on was regarded as the U2 of South Asia and were the pioneers of Sufi Rock. They took out seven albums, each one showing the love of music and singing and the words of the legendary poet - Iqbal. Salman Ahmad at the guitar, Brian O'Connor at the Bass and Ali Azmat with the vocals created magic and we were mesmerised. The words, the lyrics took the songs to new heights and kept alive were the words written by a poet who left this earth decades ago.
The band members moved to take their solo careers ahead but for a Junooni the Junoon still remains and would always remain.

Here are 10 tracks from Junoon to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

#10. Zamanay Kay Andaaz

#9. Bulleya

#8. Talaash

#7. Rooh Ki Pyaas

#6. Ishq

#5. Saeen

#4. Yaar Bina

#3. Dosti

Happy Friendship Day

So its Friendship Day today and what else a better way than to celebrate this occasion with songs on, with and for friends! :)

#1. Yeh Dosti -
This song probably screams out at you if you start thinking about friends....we have all sung this jokingly with our good friends at least once till now.

#2. Yaari Hai Imaan -
Now if talk about songs on friends, how can you leave out Pran prancing on this song with the henna-ed hair. This song really has the beats and emotions to celebrate friendship....and surprise surprise this one has AB in it too. :)

#3. Qurbani -
This is another belter of song taken out from the Feroze Khan flick with the same name. This one had quite some remixes produced in the last decade.

#4. Yaaron Dosti -
This was probably the track that brought KK to the limelight and what a beautiful track it was and is. Yeah, KK had enough talent to make it big but am sure he would be proud of this one.

#5. Dil Chahta Hai -
Now this whole movie was based on friends and the testament of friendship, and it would be hard not to have this track when we talk about friendship.

#6. Roobaro -
Now this one can fall in this category more in the perception than the actual song. I see friendship in song because it brings all the character in the movie together in a way that only friends know.

#7. Tere Jaise Yaar Kahaan -
Another AB flick and you would start wondering, if the Big B was the ultimate friend in Bollywood. This movie had another song called Bhole O Bhole which was also on winning back a friend....well the movie was called "Yaarana" so no surprises on the friendship themed songs.

#8. Jahan Chaar Yaar Mil Jayein -
Another Big B song...fun track....enough said. :)

#9. Ik Junoon (Paint It Red) =
This one is just like Dil Chahta Hai, a friendship based film which you want to watch with friends and enjoy. This song really make you want to gather your close friends and go to the tomatino festival......

#10. Dosti -
This song is the song that makes everyone go "This is my song"! I loved this song when it came out and I still love this song till date......every time I feel a little low, I hit this song and it brings a smile 10 out of 10 times! The fans of Junoon were called Junoonis and man I am one of them. Yaaro yehi Dosti hai!!!!

I might have missed out on songs but compiling songs does get a bit out of hand and some good ones are missed out....but be sure to add the ones you like and I have missed out on. Have a fun filled Friendship Day my friends. :)

P.S:
Ok, so a couple of songs which I was told I missed are :

Purani Jean -
Aah, how could I miss this one......this one used to be the anthem once. Guess I am going old. :D

Jaane Kyun -
This song from Dostana is all about friends!

By the way add the songs you want to share on the comments section.... :)

Ali Zafar - The Singer

Before he hit the BIG screen, Ali Zafar was a singer, amongst a few other things, and came out with a few preppy songs before getting into the sufi mode. The way he sings makes you wonder if it was singer from the 70s who was singing and if there were no videos the doubt might have been stronger. As we all get ready for his second film to come out, Mere Brother ki Dulhan, a flashback on his songs seemed like an idea and so here are a few of the songs he has sung over the years.

#1. Huqa Paani

#2. Channo Ki Aankhon

#3. Dekha Jo Teri Aankhon Mein

#4. Masti

#5. Sun Re Sajania

#6. Rangeen

#7. Ullu Da Pattha

#8. Ek Pal

#9. Aag

#10. Jee Dhoondta Hai
